Harm reduction workshops are increasing in the festival scene,
as well as in the fire and flow arts, as the value they add to
communities and why they matter becomes recognized.
Listen as we chat with Dresden Blue and discuss one of the
challenges facing the flow arts community, unsafe drug use and lack
of proper education on commonly used substances, her innovations in
rope dart, and how to play well with partners.
Dresden Blue is an artist exploring the expressive potential of
combining martial, dance, circus, and fire arts. She began her
journey in Portland, Oregon with the Weapons of Mass Distraction
fire troupe at Reed College, and since then has relocated to
Oakland, California where she lives and trains at the Vulcan. Over
the past 10 years, she has taught and performed at more than 30
fire and flow festivals internationally.
